What is Ring Bearer?

A ring bearer is a young boy (typically ages 3-8) who carries the wedding rings down the aisle during the ceremony, usually on a decorative pillow. For safety, most couples use fake rings for the pillow while the best man holds the real rings. The ring bearer walks before the bride in the processional, often after the flower girl. Modern alternatives include carrying a sign or simply walking without rings. Ring bearers typically wear a small suit or outfit that complements the groomsmen's attire. Like flower girls, ring bearers are usually relatives or children of close friends.
