What is First Dance?

The first dance is a traditional moment at wedding receptions where the newlywed couple shares their first dance as a married couple. This typically opens the dancing portion of the reception and occurs after the couple's entrance or before/after dinner. Couples choose a song that is meaningful to their relationship. Some couples take dance lessons to learn choreography or simply improve their dancing. The first dance is often followed by parent dances (father-daughter, mother-son).
