What is Cocktail Hour?

Cocktail hour is the transition period between the wedding ceremony and reception, typically lasting 60-90 minutes. During this time, guests mingle, enjoy drinks and hors d'oeuvres, while the couple often takes formal photos and the reception room is prepared. Cocktail hour can be held at the ceremony location, reception venue, or a separate space. Elements include a bar service, passed or stationary appetizers, background music, and sometimes lawn games or entertainment. This gives the couple time to take photos without rushing and allows guests to relax before the main event begins.
