What is Black Tie?

Black tie is one of the most formal dress codes, traditionally required for evening events such as galas, formal weddings, and charity balls. For men, black tie means wearing a tuxedo with a black bow tie, formal dress shirt, and patent leather shoes. For women, it calls for floor-length evening gowns, elegant cocktail dresses, or formal dressy separates. Accessories should be sophisticated and jewelry can be more elaborate.
